The white-throated kingfisher (Halcyon smyrnensis), also known as the white-breasted kingfisher, is a tree kingfisher with a wide distribution in Asia. Its range spans from the Sinai Peninsula in the west, across the Indian subcontinent, to China and Indonesia in the east. This kingfisher species is typically a resident in most parts of its range, although some populations may undergo short-distance movements.
